Education
Got to know Ciencia Puerto Rico and their project Aquí Nos Cuidamos, a collection of culturally-relevant multimedia and ready-to-use educational toolkit to promote COVID-19 prevention. This project was created in a participatory manner between scientists and vulnerable and marginalized communities in Puerto Rico.
Independently, a small group met with the Department of Education’s communications officer to follow up on having more open and direct communication about school openings with parents.
Environment
Discussions about environmental racial justice and the responsibility of the philanthropic sector in supporting advocacy actions targeting environmental public policy.
Housing
We reviewed all pending initiatives from 2020 and agreed to continue exploring the viability of a collective fund that facilitates access to federal funds for organizations.
Upcoming actions will focus on initiatives supporting public policy.
Public Policy
We supported the efforts of a bill proposed by Ayuda Legal to prohibit evictions and foreclosures after a declared emergency.

Learning to Listen
We’ve launched the Learning to Listen project with 36 representatives of grantmakers, nonprofits and activists/community leaders. During the next seven months these participants will develop a participatory grantmaking toolkit to help funders listen to and share power with the people and communities they seek to help in the areas of environment, education, and transparency and governance. We will keep you updated!
