On the Ground Initiatives

Fundación Ángel Ramos

Fundación Ángel Ramos joined forces with the Flamboyán Fund for the Arts to present the Art and Culture Award, which granted $20,000 to the Olga Iglesias Project, an organization that supports classical singers in Puerto Rico. The award is given during the entrepreneurial competition EnterPRize, which also offers specialized prizes in different categories such as sustainability, business women, health innovation, agricultural entrepreneurship, art and culture, and business innovation, among others.

The Andrew Mellon Foundation

Mellon Foundation continues its unyielding support to the arts in Puerto Rico by granting $700,000 to Bori-Corridor, a project that will increase the presence of Puerto Rican artists in the United States east coast and will connect them with the main cultural centers of the diaspora.

MCS Foundation

As part of the ‘La Lucha’ fundraising campaign, the MCS Foundation awarded $455,000 in donations to nine non-profit entities aimed at serving the elderly population in Puerto Rico. At the beginning of 2022, another $68,000 were donated to two other entities, which adds up to $523,000 distributed this year to impact more than six thousand people.

Miracle-Ear Foundation

In an effort to improve the lives of people with hearing loss, Miracle-Ear Foundation invested more than $1 million into hearing care resources for communities in Puerto Rico. More than 200 hearing aids were distributed to more than 100 Puerto Ricans who could otherwise not afford them.

The Act 20/22 Society

The 20/22 Act Foundation, which focuses its efforts on contributing to entities working on social welfare and economic development, education, health and animal welfare, announced its members donated $1.5 million to 40 nonprofit organizations in Puerto Rico during 2022.

Calls for Submissions

Ford Foundation and the Flamboyán Arts Fund

The Ford Foundation and the Flamboyan Arts Fund have launched En Foco: Proyecto de Visibilización Cultural,” an open call for proposals to fund individuals and organizations that present creative and innovative projects aimed at amplifying the arts and culture in Puerto Rico.

With a $500,000 budget, “En Foco: Proyecto de Visibilización Cultural” will grant $50,000 – $100,000 to artists and organizations to develop and showcase their work within a two-year period.

Triple S

Fundación Triple S has announced that their submission process for 2023 is now open! The grants will be directed to organizations working on projects related to loneliness and social isolation. They will hold an orientation meeting this Friday, January 13, for all interested organizations.
