Liberty Foundation celebrated Earth Month by carrying out various activities to contribute to the conservation of the natural resources of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Hispanic Federation
Hispanic Federation, in collaboration with ICASA and Casa Blanca, held a training webinar called “Capacitación sobre Direcciones: El GRAN Problema del Que No Habías Escuchado”, with the goal of highlighting and offering a greater understanding of the existing problem with physical, postal and civic addresses in Puerto Rico and identifying communities, regions, populations and organizations affected by the issue.

The Mellon Foundation
The Mellon Foundation and the Centro de Economía Creativa announced the creation of “Maniobra”, an $8 million cultural work initiative designed to facilitate stable employment opportunities for artists.

Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico
The Holberton Puerto Rico Scholarship Fund, established by the Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico (FCPR), awarded $50,000 in scholarships to ten students at the computer science school Holberton Puerto Rico.

Fundación Colibrí
Fundación Colibrí, Environmental Defense Fund, and Genesis Solar broke ground on the initial phase of a community-based solar and storage pilot project that “will deliver clean, affordable, and reliable electricity” to some 40 households on the island municipality of Culebra.

Some 113 public school students and teachers from disadvantaged communitites in Cabo Rojo and San Juan received free hybrid workshops from the educational program Ciencia Móvil of the Centros Sor Isolina Ferré.

Titín Foundation/ Flamboyán Foundation
Powered by Titín Foundation and Fundación Flamboyán, the artist José Luis Vargas and the La Fondita de Jesús Corporation, in collaboration with the Miramar Museum of Art and Design (MADMi), will take on the cultural educational project “Vehículos y Puentes”, with the goal of strengthening the work carried out by the Speakers of the Street of the Equity and Social Justice Program of “La Fondita”, through some art workshops.

Taco Bell, the Taco Bell Foundation and Ashoka are launching the Ambition Accelerator, a new program specifically designed to help young people seeking to make change in their communities and around the world.
Puerto Ricans aged 16 to 26 are eligible to submit ideas for how to tackle society’s most pressing issues — whether it’s addressing climate change, advocating for social justice, building a more equitable and inclusive society or solving for other critical issues in their communities.
