Expanding
As part of our efforts to expand philanthropy, we develop specific initiatives, philanthropic models and research. Over the course of the past years we have successfully executed multiple initiatives ranging from collaborative funds to communities of practice.

Adelante Puerto Rico
FORWARD Puerto Rico is a strategic tool created to attract, mobilize and expand philanthropic investment on the island. FORWARD Puerto Rico fulfills its mission by supporting long-term initiatives that build the non-profit sector infrastructure to advance systemic change in Puerto Rico. Through Forward Puerto Rico, philanthropic entities combine funds and increase the impact on long term social change through innovative philanthropic practices. Using this fund, multiple grantmakers can contribute to collective investment that individual grantmakers could not achieve.

Data Observatory
The Data Observatory is Puerto Rico’s platform for those committed to strengthening and expanding the social sector. This user-friendly platform provides access to data, visualization, and analysis to support organizational strategies. With FiPi, an interactive chatbot, users can easily explore and find relevant information. The observatory also promotes collaboration through a virtual community space for discussions and collective analysis. Additionally, it serves as an open-source platform for tracking the social sector’s impact through regular surveys and real-time data collection, the observatory will also provide data to have an overarching understanding of the social sector and key issues in Puerto Rico. By using, contributing with your data, and engaging, we can produce more impactful philanthropy and strengthen the social sector.
Past Initiatives

Robusteciendo la Justicia Social
Through Filantropía Puerto Rico’s initiative Robusteciendo la Justicia Social we serve as a strategic partner connecting philanthropic investment to on-the-ground efforts on the island focused on social justice and a just recovery. This three-year initiative supports an infrastructure that expands and strengthens organizations mobilizing systemic change and equity on issues related to: housing, recovery, land use, environment, governance, transparency, and civic engagement. As intermediaries, we developed a model for non-competitive collaborations among a collective of community-based organizations funded sustainably for three years.
