ACTION SUMMARY

December 2022

philanthropy serving

This is the last Action Summary of 2022! We could not do what we do without the support of our colleagues, our network and our allies. Thank you for being by our side and making this year one of our very best.  2022 has been an extremely productive year for FiPR. More importantly, our team is grateful for the opportunity to cultivate our network, which provides support to move toward equity and justice.

To give our staff quality time with their families and loved ones this holiday season, our virtual office will be closed. Shortly after returning to work on Monday, January 9th, we look forward to sharing exciting news about the year ahead.

Now, for the last time this year, check out what we did this month:

MEMBERS BRUNCH

You know we had to have our December Members Brunch! On this occasion, we kept strengthening our relationships at the offices of Liberty Foundation, where Executive Director Yadiria Valdivia and their team got to share their projects and initiatives. We’re excited to continue the Members Brunch tradition into 2023!

ACTION DIALOGUES

We closed off the events for 2022 the only way we know how, with an Action Dialogue! In this edition, the FiPR team discussed the strategic planning process for 2023 and gave updates on the current state of our Membership (we keep growing!) There we also updates on the Todos a Leer! Coalition, the members’ Education Initiative, and the Compromiso por una Recuperación Justa initiative. Action Dialogues will be as active as ever in 2023.

philanthropy leading

Thanks to the support of our network of foundations, corporations and individual donors, we granted $720,000 to Mutual Aid Centers across the island. Mutual Aid  is changing and building social relationships that lead to new projects and understandings while taking care of themselves and others. Meet the grantees:

Visit our FORWARD Puerto Rico Fund page to see the full breakdown of how the money is being distributed, and to learn more about the Centers benefitting from this grant.

Robusteciendo la Justicia Social (Strengthening Social Justice)

The RJS member organizations continued to evolve and progress during their fourth Cohort Meeting of 2022. They took the time to look back and reflect on their process and achievements, while also setting goals and looking ahead into 2023.
