Results of the Puerto Rico Distributed Energy Resource Integration Modeling Study
- February 10, 2021
This webinar is part of series about the impact of the grants awarded under the FORWARD Puerto Rico Fund, a pool of contributions raised by Filantropía Puerto Rico after Hurricanes Irma and Maria to support recovery efforts.
Cambio presented results from a technical and economic analysis to implement the Queremos Sol proposal which seeks to diversify Puerto Rico’s energy sources, while prioritizing solar energy from rooftops and energy storage in batteries, on top of efficiency, conservation and demand management measures.
The analysis concludes that it is viable to satisfy 75% of Puerto Rico’s electric demand via rooftop-based distributed generation solar systems by 2035. Watch the webinar to learn about how the study was conducted and the economic savings represented by this project for citizens, businesses and government.

We also share additional resources that Cambio has developed to inform the government and the general public about these findings, and a news article that local newspaper El Nuevo Día published about the analysis.
